Day 2 – Displacement Dynamics & Placement Techniques

  • - Fluid displacement principles for effective mud removal
  • - Spacer and preflush design and properties
  • - Managing losses and narrow annular clearances
  • - Displacement rates and pump schedules
  • - Workshop: Calculate displacement efficiency for a deviated well

Day 3 – Cementing in Challenging Environments

  • - Foam, lightweight, and expanding cements
  • - Cementing liners, multistage tools, and sidetracks
  • - Cementing highly deviated and horizontal wells
  • - Cementing in lost circulation and weak formations
  • - Exercise: Plan a cementing job for a depleted zone

Day 4 – Cement Evaluation & Integrity Assurance

  • - Cement bond logs (CBL), VDL, ultrasonic evaluation
  • - Determining top of cement and zonal isolation verification
  • - Pressure testing casing integrity post-cementing
  • - Common causes of cement failures and remediation strategies
  • - Workshop: Analyze cement evaluation logs for well integrity

Day 5 – Landmark OptiCem Simulation & Case Studies

  • - Introduction to Landmark OptiCem interface and inputs
  • - Building cementing simulations with wellbore profiles
  • - Modeling displacement efficiency and pressure profiles
  • - Optimizing slurry placement and avoiding channeling
  • - Capstone Project: Simulate and optimize a complex cementing job using OptiCem
